Many families DO consider nanny’s the hired help so they feel it is acceptable to create unreasonable instructions for them that they themselves do not follow. I think this is the core issue at point here. If the family instructed their nanny to not turn on the television while caring for their children and they themselves did the same that would be fair. Yet if they allowed television time ONLY when the nanny wasn’t there then that would be a dealbreaker for me if I was their Nannie. Because if they did the latter I would be convinced that they viewed me as the “help” only and that they expected to get their money’s worth of work from me.[/quote]
