So let me clarify since I see the need to with you annoying birds, one of the parents in the nanny share can't do every day care so when the nanny has one child the nanny they choose will only get paid $11 according to what they explained to me. THAT IS INSANE! Not to see mention they can't pay holidays and vacation. I get what the OP means when she said find other options because nannies are private care which means childcare will cost you a bit more than a daycare would. [/quote]

Then don’t take that contract though I’m sure some Nannies would. Why exactly does a nanny cost more than daycare? A center based daycare has higher costs due to several factors whereas most Nannies have the benefit of using the parents home and vehicle. It’s also a lot easier to watch 1-2 kids as opposed to the ratios in daycares (4-6). More work for less pay which is why a lot of staff get into nannying. Unless the nanny is heavily credentialed then the cost is more or less the same. [/quote]

Of course I’m not taking the contract I was clearly drawing a reference. You do know that there are Nannies that are well qualified and educated but chose to be a nanny because it pays more. Private care cost more I don’t care what you say and just an fyi I use my own car because most of these parents don’t offer their cars to drive their kids around which is fine as long as they pay for the wear and tear on my vehicle which I make sure to add in my contract. I am qualified and have the credentials to request well over $25 hourly. At one point in my life  I was a Montessori school teacher for a couple of years in my life and unbeknownst to you that job pays peanuts much like public school teaching.  I’ve been a nanny for almost 30 years and I come with impeccable references that’s why I can afford to turn down jobs and contracts that try to low ball me. Nannies should bring more of these topics to light because we get treated like we have no idea what we’re doing and also like we are uneducated. Some of us are actually going to school while we care for your children. It’s just insulting to offer someone below minimum wage to do any job if you can’t afford it do it yourself and that’s the argument..[/quote]
