[/quote] It's less about what the nanny is actually doing during that time, and more about the nanny holding that time in her schedule with reliability. The few hours just a few days a week means that she can't accept full time employment somewhere else. To make a reasonable living, she is going to have to cobble together several part time jobs, and it might be harder to find these jobs with hours lining up perfectly. The nanny's best bet is probably to find another family with older children that only wants care after school, but nanny will still end up with a few random hours (between noon and 2 or 3 pm) and a few mornings each week where she is not earning money.[/quote]
