OP here. I am trying to rent from a complex. They emailed me yesterday to say they couldn’t verify my income documents, and were denying me. They didn’t contact my employers or the agency, so it doesn’t sound like they actually made any effort to verify anything. They just took my $75 application fee. Whatever. I got my employer to write a letter on hospital letterhead. It has his military rank and everything one there. Maybe that will help at the next place. I have a dog who is a mixed breed, but one is on the restricted breed list. This limits my options for apartments here.
Do you have a W2? Not sure why this wouldn’t be sufficient.
I’ve only had this job for 6 weeks, so last year’s income wouldn’t do anything to show my current income. I sent an email to their corporate office to say I paid the application fee, and they made zero effort to verify my income. I might have used some legal terminology to force an answer, but I didn’t threaten to sue them. I got a response quickly. It said they denied me for lying on the application. I didn’t lie on the application. I suspect this was their mistake, and now they’re trying to cover their butts. Glad I didn’t sign a lease with them if this is their honesty level!!
