I’m a live in nanny and I work 12 h a day for 60 hours a week. I’m paid one and half after the 44 hours. I would say that my pay is ok for the DC area with overtime. However, I asked a higher salary but we agreed to my current salary because the family said they travel often and I will accompany them twice or three times a years. We agreed from 7am to 7pm but sometimes the kids sleep until 8am and I make sure to put them in bed at 8pm to make my full hours. I told them that I’m flexible when they have to go out because I’m home but they not paying me for that and they go out between 2 and 4 times a week. For now, I told them it’s fine since it’s the winter and I don’t go out. I check on the camera until 11pm or midnight and I turn my phone off. Now, they wanted to give me a phone since I turn my phone off and I told them that I’m not working overnight so I don’t need their phone. But, they insisted so I took it. Now, ai just see that they expect me to wake up at night when the kids wake up. Each morning, they asked me how the kids slept my answer always I don’t know I was sleeping. Upfront, I told them a live in nanny has a set schedule and no overnight and she needs to be paid overtime. I don’t know how to be very firm and stand for myself without been rude but I don’t like the idea how they want to take advantage of me. I don’t want to burn out. I’m flexible because the kids go to school 3 times a week for 3 hours. Therefore, I rest at least 2 days because I cook for them every other days basically. I need some advices please! Sorry for the typo I’m so frustrated and also I want to call the agency that found me the position
