I am thinking of possible reasons for the fewer opportunities for jobs with infants: 1) People are having fewer babies (this has been a trend for awhile, and was made worse by the pandemic). 2) COVID vaccine for littles (under 5) was approved over the summer; people who may have been interested in hiring nannies because they did not want their babies/kids exposed to COVID may now be returning to daycares and other forms of care. 3) Daycare/school availability is higher than during the pandemic. Preschools/daycares that were closed during the pandemic may have re-opened. Good luck with your search!
Agreed, and I would add that 4) lots of families let their nannies go when the youngest kid enters school, so it may also be there are more candidates than usual, for the same number of jobs. There's not much seasonality in having a new baby and needing a nanny, but there's fairly strong seasonality on the other end.
