But I think the bigger thing is that the stroller is so big an obvious that it just constantly seems like an option to ride vs. walk.  And when you have the stroller, it’s harder to manage little ones who aren’t in the stroller because even empty, the stroller occupies your hands.  So for both nanny and kid, it becomes self-reinforcing.  You bring the stroller, so it’s easier to use the stroller, so you get used to the stroller, so you bring it again next outing.

As I say to my kids: we left the house to wear you out; we could wear ME out at home.

Since my goal is for them to walk as much as possible, it makes more sense for me to use the carrier because they end up walking most of the time and just taking breaks in the carrier, vs riding most of the time and walking when they get super antsy.[/quote]
