Establish a day rate for traveling. Use 24 hours as a day (or any part of the return day). I’m a nanny and two years ago I set my traveling rate at $400 a day. I also shared a room with the baby/child with all meals, travel, etc covered. I don’t travel anymore but use a similar travel rate for sleeping over.
+1. Set a traveling rate. And make sure to include some scheduled off times. I was so overworked while traveling in my previous job that I’ve turned down other jobs if they included traveling. Being the 24/7 caregiver to children in a foreign country when they are off their schedules and very clingy is less fun than it sounds.
I think it’s awful that you had to be with the kids 24/7! Why do parents like that even bring their kids if they don’t want to spend any time with them?
