OP here, I was totally surprised and uncomfortable the whole day. The request was made by the aunt and uncle of the mom. I noticed they don't kiss on or cuddle the baby also. Maybe it's a culture thing. They are not American born and I am also from a different race than them. I am almost fifty years old and this is the first for me. Being told not to kiss a child.
Quit or do not take this job. First, you do not work for the aunt and uncle and they have no business telling you what to do. Second, it’s weird and controlling and not in the child’s best interest.
OP here, I am meeting with the mother after work. I need to get her feedback how she wants me to interact with the baby. She's usually out by the time I get there. I'm staying until 4:30 today to speak to her privately. If her feelings are the same as the aunts and uncle, then of course I will explain to her that children deprive of love and hugs and kisses all day from me it's not beneficial to them or myself. I really enjoy working with kids and the feeling is mutual. Telling a nanny or a teacher, cannot show kids emotion and love is truly sad.
