And guess what? There is absolutely no consequence to au pair for setting families up like that. We had an au pair do that to us, a 2 physician household within a month, the refund policy for agencies is a joke and agencies get more money from rematches. It's so dishonest and no one is doing anything to protect the families that need child care.
I am so sorry. Agencies love us NIE families b/c we still keep the cash flow for them. IF au pairs rematch after we bring them here, agencies can still make $ if the aps go to a non-NIE family that is desperate for childcare. NIE Au pairs should only be allowed to rematch with NIE families.
That is how APIA was working for a long time during the pandemic. If you weren't in rematch, you couldn't see a rematch aupair. So there wasn't a way that an extension family could match with a rematching aupair. We are an NIE family and had no issues with our aupair arriving and staying with our family. I could see how it could work out otherwise. NIE families aren't necessarily the "easiest" because we have a reason for being in that category to begin with.
Sure, we aren't the "easiest" but when did we say that the program was supposed to be "easy"? We are in a pandemic and that's why there's a special category visa. If an AP rematches right away and came to the US via NIE, then they should only be allowed to match with an NIE family, not the general pool of families b/c we need the childcare the most. BTW, fb groups are where the deceptive rematches occur
