Not interested in outings because of public bathroom issues. The point of the nanny will be to limit exposure. My hope is 1st grader will be in school most days and we have swing set in backyard for her too. In normal times, exposure experiences and enrichment for 2 year old would be excellent but no. Not now. High risk people in the house, new baby, limited exposure for the foreseeable future
Public bathrooms are less of an issue than being around other people, but you do you. Most nannies won’t want to be limited to just your house, backyard and one park for the next year. Not only will the nanny be stir crazy, your toddler and older child (if home, which is likely since most schools seem to be planning a hybrid year) will be as well. I’m highly in favor of quarantine or extreme social distancing. I just think you’re going to struggle to find a nanny with your expectations.
Thanks. We will see what we can find. I know we will need to find a unicorn but DD2 was hospitalized for a week when she was 1 month old and it was horrible and scary. I can't do that again for any kid. MIL lives with us (in her own space) but is medically high risk beyond just being old. So social distancing and extreme caution matters to me. MIL in house, my maternity leave (so another person at home) and the uncertainty of DL next year all make finding the right person a challenge but I think there might be nannies who also want cautious employers so there might be a match out there.
 MIL in house at all times, you in the house for maternity leave, and you want nanny to entertain a newborn and first grader but limit it to the house, backyard with a swing set, and one park? That is a BIG order to fill. Plus, you mentioned the first grader may be in school - you must know that parents will be sending their kids to school even when sick, right? Parents have done it for years.
