Actually, I homeschool and/or tutor, both with my nanny charges or with other students.  Many nannies are former teachers, with bachelors and sometimes masters degrees.  And there are a few agencies that only place nannies with degrees.

I’ve been hired after three certified teachers couldn’t handle homeschooling mixed ages and couldn’t handle several different curricula at the same time.  I’m guessing the issue was that they had plenty of experience with a set curriculum and all students doing the same thing, all the children of approximately the same age.

I respect teachers.  But homeschooling is a very different skill set.  A teaching degree does not prepare for handling multiple ages and multiple curricula needs.

If you disagree, look at all the posts from certified teachers who had trouble with homeschooling their own children during covid.  Many have said that they would never be able to homeschool long term.[/quote]

OP, if this person is correct - $50/hr - you’d be paying $36,000 for the school year. Which, uh...

Homeschooling is actually different than DL.  I think a bright college graduate with a talent for motivating kids could easily do it.

To answer OP’s question:  tutors in our areas are getting between $50 and $100 an hour and very, very much in demand.  Guaranteeing four hours a day will get you closed to $50.  [/quote][/quote]
