Is she interested in English classes?
Not a substantive class. Our AP has fluent English and has taken a lot of online courses during the shutdown. Most colleges are not promising in-person classes in the Summer/Fall.
Op here. Not looking for in person just looking for classes that meet digitally in real time rather than a recorded lecture and discussion board. Montgomery college seems to be mostly the latter this summer. Where has your ap done her classes and were they for credit? We are happy to pay up to $1000 for the class if it actually checks these boxes, seems only fair given how curtailed our app’s experience has been overall.
Have her email all the local colleges, if you’re willing to pay up to $1k. She needs to set up a time with a counselor at each one, and if she sends the email first with the list of what she wants, they should be able to go over a selection of classes with her.
Right, thanks, I know we could do this the question isn’t so much what class to take take but what institutions are offering most classes in live zoom format versus recorded. I have a few ideas already but was posting here in case others had other leads or tips.
Most classes will be recorded, which is why I recommended she get a list (most likely short) from each as to what they will guarantee to be live zoom or in person. Community colleges are notorious for changing instructor and/or method at the last minute, which is why she needs to clarify with someone at the college. If she takes anyone else’s word, getting the money refunded to use in a live class at another institution won’t happen, but if she was guaranteed it was going to be live by someone (who has the authority to make that guarantee) at the college, then she has the ability to argue for a refund to go elsewhere.
Got it — thanks so much for explaining and very helpful and much appreciated!
