The family I work for decided to not have me work, but also don’t want to pay me . My contract says guaranteed pay for 52 weeks Both still work from home, so I’m a little disappointed they wouldn’t pay me any kind of money to support me I mean it will be weeks without pay, and that money could pay for my rent and food for months Unemployment money is not an option for me (don’t ask) So I’m not sure how to handle it They want me back whenever this is over, but I’m not making any money for at least 6-8 weeks
If you’re eligible to work, and you have an enforceable contract, let them know that they can have you work or not, but you need to be paid. If they choose not to go at, you will need to look for another job. There are very few ways that you wouldn’t be eligible for unemployment. If you aren’t allowed to work, are already collecting government assistance (unemployment, disability, government pension, etc) or are wanted for questioning, yes I can definitely see why you don’t want to advertise what you’re doing. But if not? Go apply for unemployment.
