Does it say “host family is no longer with the program” or “host family removed”? Hi We were with CCAP but they treated us like crap and tried to tell us we were a bad host family due to three rematches (the first was lovely but couldn’t get kids to school on time or perform basic duties after 3 months of trying; the second was a chronic liar, partied so hard she vomited in her room from drinking, repeatedly lied to us and to LCC, forgot to pick up kids, had multiple car accidents; and the third was clinically depressed and on her second rematch). Never mind that we were also a very successful host family with other au pairs and stayed in touch with them after they returned home at the end of the year. So, it’s entirely possible CCAP claimed we were unavailable to provide reference or no longer with the program, when in fact they were just lecturing us and then trying to push even worse rematch candidates on us. We were so frustrated with CCAP’s handling of child endangerment, repeat property damage, lies, and major mental health issues (all chalked up to “these are vulnerable young people in a new country”) that we quit the agency and asked for a refund. They didn’t remove us, but they treated us badly enough that we removed ourselves and demanded money back. We are now with APC and it is a WORLD of difference. Communication is so much clearer for both au pairs and host families, no ambiguity about rules, no confusion over how vacation days are counted, au pairs are clearly informed of things like “au pairs are not entitled to holidays off and host families may ask you to work; many families expect au pairs to work New Year’s Eve.” This has led to far less resentment from au pairs because it’s the agency explaining the rules versus the host family explaining the rules as CCAP left us to do. So yeah - CCAP might be the issue here. I’d never recommend them. That said, there are surely bad host families out there and they SHOULD be removed. But I wouldn’t trust CCAP to do that honestly either!
