I am a nanny with two charges. One family is moving away at the end of October and the other family wants me to stay on, but they can't pay me what I was making for two. How much of a pay cut would you take to stay on with an employer / charge you love?
None. Either they pay full or find a new family to share. Why are nannies so willing to be taken advantage of?
This depends on the contract. If it is a share contract and one family leaves the share, that nullifies the contract. So the remaining employer is not obligated to pay the nanny the same rate. The family and the nanny should negotiate a new pay rate if the family can afford it. I wouldn't have been able to in that situation but it's worth trying.
