2 is a share. 3 is a home daycare.
A family home daycare is a business operating out of a person’s home where the provider (a person who has met state requirements such as trainings, clock hours, et., in child care) cares for 1 or more children (not to exceed 8 for small home daycare or 12 for for large home daycare) that are not their own. So, I’m pretty sure if you called OCC to inquire about caring for 2 children, simultaneously, in a home, they will tell you to that you should obtain a business license. It does not have to be your home to operate a family home daycare. God forbid something traumatic happens in a share, they will really start cracking down (no matter how many children) but the IRS is still getting their money, so who cares. But just because you can’t care for 3 children, don’t knock others hustle.
