When this would happen to me, I hand washed the dishes and dried them and put them away before I left. Eventually I noticed they would run it the night before after a few times of me not running it.
Great work around for that! That’s what I do also. I certainly don’t mind once in a while but when it’s becomes nearly every morning it’s a headache. I always run it if I fill it up during the day & will empty and dry before I leave. This usually occurs when I have all 3 kids so more cooking lessons and projects and more dishes used that I wouldn’t dream of leaving for mb and db to come home to. I just don’t appreciate opening a dishwasher prepared to put away the kids dirty things quickly, only for it to still be full of a family of 5’s wet clean dishes that now need to be dried and put away before I can finish cleaning up our messes. It’s like mb uses every mixing cup/bowl, spatula and cooking sheet she owns to make meals. Just adds more time to clean up when I’ve got 3 kids to get back to and out of the house for an activity etc.
