Pink eye can also be caused by something getting into the eye, just fyi.  It’s possible that OP has viral, probable even.  But if I’m miserable for several days, I’m also going to my doctor to rule out anything else.[/quote].

Yes, redness to the sclera (no conjunctiva) can be caused by a foreign body or laceration, unlikely in OPs case as she has systemic involvement and its bilateral (just FYI!). 
No one is saying don't go get it checked, just perhaps don't go at the last minute on one of the only TWO days you work for someone and then be shocked that your employer is a bit upset. [/quote]
