really getting annoyed with the family I’ve been working for. For the last few years I’ve been going above and beyond for them, not taking any time off because I didn’t get any paid vacation time or any paid days off to begin with. I would show up on short notice, even on the weekends. I have a set week schedule, and they know I need the money, I clearly told them so on a few occasions. Lately it’s been happening that they give me some time off here and there, not paid off course, because they don’t need me. Today for instance, she let me go home early one hour without any notice, but of course didn’t pay me for the hour. Now, I’m not a gold digger, and I know I took the job knowing they don’t want to pay, but come on now. I’ve been going above and beyond for them, always there for them, clean up the house more and more because the mom just doesn’t keep it clean at all and the housekeeper hasn’t been coming as scheduled. Is it really such a big deal to not pay for that hour, when you know your nanny needs the money? And when she tells me only at 10pm the night before? They used to be better about this, but lately it’s becoming really bad. I see this as a slap in the face, feel totally disrespected.... I started looking for a new job.... But I know 99 percent once I’ll give her 2 weeks notice, she’ll let me go immediately, which annoys me more because now I know I’ll be out 2 weeks of pay.....ohhhhhh don’t know how to handle my feelings right now lol Thank you!
I guess you live and learn. Sounds like you need a contract that establishes some PTO and a regular schedule, either with this family or the next one.
