For the first time, we will have a nanny over the summer and two kids home. I'm making plans now and am curious what creative things you guys have done. We are close to buses and metro and are in NoVa. Nanny does not drive but we have a light car seat and she has an uber account. I can think of the normal things...smithsonian, parks, malls. I seek creative suggestions and maybe some mailing list to sign up for. We don't belong to a pool...
You don’t want a full car seat for a 6yo, nor do you want your nanny carrying the seat everywhere. Get a bubblebum booster, they’re convenient and can be transported easily. Plan and get a pool membership NOW or plan on having them go to splash pads. Depending on where you are, it may or may not be convenient, there may or may not be a bathroom to change afterwards, and Uber will NOT want wet kids in the car. Talk to the nanny, see what her ideas are. If she’s a nanny (ie. has done this before), she’ll have some good ideas already. If not, you have a sitter, so you may need to micromanage the whole summer.
