I work 12 hour days Monday thru Thursday. This week was a bear because both kids had colds. Now I am finally home on this Thursday night, the beginning of my three day weekend and - you guessed it - my throat is killing me and my nose is running! I am sure I will be fine come Monday morning but I fear my weekend is shot. Welcome to my first cold of the season. I love my job and truly love the adorable little twin germ-bags I get to spend my days with but... ugh!
Um, isn't this reality of working? All of us who work have to deal with this (with one less day than you).
You never get as sick as often as when you do when you work with children. I got maybe one cold every three years when I worked around adults in an office. My first year teaching preschool I had NINE separate colds, pink-eye, HFM and two wicked bouts of stomach bug. It is different when you work with young children.
+1. Nannies, preschool teachers, daycare assistants an teachers get sick all the time. Plus if a coworker in an office has a cold, he doesn’t want to sit on your lap and cuddle for hours or sneeze on you while you are changing her diaper. Or puke on you when he has the stomach bug. Little kids and babies want you to constantly hold them when they are ill. No comparison to working in an office.
