OP here. Thanks all. She had promised me the contract by Tuesday 8/14, and now it is Wednesday 8/15 and I still have not had any contact from her. In her defense, the job does not start until after Labor Day so maybe she is thinking she has plenty of time. But I just want to know I have a job secured for the new school year, before all the decent positions are taken! I am kind of wanting her to take longer now, as it is giving me more time to interview and meet other families, and maybe I will get another offer during this time, who knows. I don't want to tell her I'm not interested as I think it would be a good job if it all ends up working out. I do have some hesitations about it though, as the family already has 2 other nannies (1 full time and 1 part time) and they are hiring me as part time as well. I think I'd rather be the only nanny in the house...
OP here. I just went through something very similar, which I posted about on here. I got the job on the spot, answered to their deadline, but it took over a week to get a solid contract offer. During that time they missed their own set deadlines, didn’t call references at planned, and took hours/days to respond. I decided to keep interviewing, and got an offer from someone else. I accepted it, and then rescinded my acceptance. I wasn’t confident in the offer anymore, and felt the lack of communication early on was a bad sign. I would encourage you to try to nail something else down, or if you want this job, be candid and tell me that you’re losing faith in the offer given the lapse in time and response. See what they say as an indication of whether you need to rescind your acceptance or wait it out.
