Back when I worked as a nanny I had a couple of jobs that were weekend nanny positions. I was paid a higher hourly rate for working weekends. Are the Saturday/Sunday hours in addition to her regular hours during the week? If so, that’s three months of working seven days/wk. I’d ask for a higher hourly rate as well to make it worth my while. Asking for $7 more per hour might also be her way of saying that she’s not crazy about working weekends for three months.
Op here. If she doesn’t want to work weekends then she should say so. I asked her if she was willing to do it and she said yes. I know she might not like it but she should’ve said no when I asked her.
She was trying to be accommodating to you. You said in an earlier post that you know it will be hard to find someone short term with just two weeks notice. An increased rate for weekends is definitely fair--most of her friends and family probably have weekends off, so she will be missing out on time with them. Most "fun" things (parties, festivals, etc.) are scheduled on weekends.
