I am a nanny and I highly recommended a nanny I know from one of our toddler classes.  This nanny got the job and has been consistently late and calls in sick at the last moment.  I am so embarrassed that I ever recommended her and put her together with her new employer.  Her new employers are dentists/oral surgeon and if they are late for work, every patient and person who works in the office is late all day long.

And let me nip the inevitable response in the bud here:  It makes no difference what your boss does.  In the world, the owner of the company gets to do a lot of things that his/her employees are not allowed to do.

I have managed, in three years, to have only been late once and that was when there was a fire on the freeway and they closed the major cross vein (Mulholland) on the hill (I am in Los Angeles which has the worst and most erratic traffic in the planet).
