About two months in advance. If you need something in particular -- odd hours, for example, then give yourself a little more time.
Why wait?
Because this far out, her needs/wants could change, the other family could back out, the nanny could back out.
This. OP, for our August baby who started a share in January, we started looking in October and it looks like (from old emails) were set up with a contract mid-December just ahead of the holidays. Now is crazy early for a baby who won't be born for six months! (For nanny shares, at least--it's on the late end for many daycare waitlists!) I might start looking casually in the summer (since you'll have more time pre-baby) but expect to look more intensively in October/November. In our case we stumbled onto a share with a family who already had the nanny employed for an older child who was starting preschool, and we shared with the younger child. But in a brand new share, I don't know that people necessarily know that far in advance.
