I was nannying full time for a family that expected me to be more of a maid than a nanny. The parents wanted me to wash their clothes, their bes sheets, mop the whole house, clean bathrooms and more. Things that were not discussed prior to me getting hired. I explained to them that i was uncomfortable doing anything that didnt have to do with the children because i was not informed about the extras before hand. They understood but then a few weeks later the mom calls me n says that they suddenly have to travel overseas. I thought it was a bit fishy and i wasnt very happy. They offered to give me two weeks notice after i told them how much of a situation financially they were putting me in. I went along with the whole traveling exscuse up until the dad asked me if I wanted to be a driver to his parents who were visiting the same week the mom said they were supposedly traveling. while im grateful for the two weeks im diagusted that they lied to me. Iblater found out that me not wanting to pick up after the parents had been the issue. DONT LIE TO YOUR NANNY! Treat them the way you want to be treated. If I had lied about something they would have been furious. Also if you are planning to letva nanny go, be curtious and give her notice. Luckily that family did but there are alot of parents that don't care and just blindside their nannys by saying "today's your last day" BUT if they nanny doesnt give notice for quitting then shes the bad guy. Its a horrible double standard. Treat your nanny with the same respect you want!
