Each parent should do a trial day alone juggling the two babies. Then come back here to say what a terrific way to go! Maybe experienced nannies have special magical powers. ;)
Are you a nanny? Have you never cared for more than one child? First off, nannies do have magical powers compared to most first-time parents. It's why we were hired. Secondly, unless you have a one-to-one nanny-child ratio, your kid will have to wait sometimes but the easiest way to juggle teo is for them to be one the same routine. As a twin nanny, it is MUCH easier to care for twins than a baby and a 3yo.
I've worked with both twins and shares. Twins are infinitely easier. Each child is in their own home, and accustomed to accommodating each other with the same parents. In shares, I always feel sorry for the visiting child who always has a hard time napping in a strange environment. It's impossible to hold one baby for hours without neglecting the other baby. Parents are clueless about this. But it's a bargain arrangement for them, and maybe a slightly higher wage for the nanny. The babies are the ones who suffer the most during the time they need to be learning about security and trust. I no longer accept shares with two babies for that reason. Think about it.
