I've been nannying for this family for a year. I have a 3 year old and 1.5 year old. My oldest is a girl that is in school part time 3 mornings a week since the new year and the youngest is a boy I have all 50 hours. I immediately began working on sign language with them and once they mastered certain things I moved on to the basics and now my charges know colors numbers and basic phrases in Spanish and English. I used fill out a daily report and leave it out listing certain activities and what they ate etc. mb provided the notebook. I realized she wasn't even reading it because of the texts she and db would send me that night like " what did youngest eat last?" Or "did oldest nap after lunch?" I would answer at first then began telling them I don't remember and to check the log. Soon I began coming in and seeing they would allow oldest to scribble all over the pages and eventually they threw it out. One morning mb made reference to a tv show and said "oldest learns so much from this show it's great we found them something entertaining and educational" despite the fact I'd taught her those things months beforehand. Now when I come in on Monday she is going "youngest say dhdbdhekej for nanny!" "Show nanny you can count to 10!" I'm standing there like really? I'm with this kid 10 hours per day do you actually think I don't know and don't have a hand in what they have learned? She is also giving credit for the oldest' knowledge to the preschool she hasn't even been at that long. This rubs me the wrong way and I feel like she is being passive aggressive. It almost makes me want to quit working for her knowing she goes out of her way to ignore what I do education wise.
