No.  It is not all right.  Your sister can take time off and watch her partner's kid.  Why would think this is all right?  She was hired as a NANNY FOR YOUR CHILD.  also, she is your employer not your servant![/quote]

Perhaps the sister (probably mother of the child) needs to be at the hospital with her partner.

I think most people would be happy to do this.  I agree that the nanny should be paid extra for those hours, but it's not an unreasonable thing to ask.
