We don't offer any additional benefits (like paid sick or vacation or an insurance stipend)  and I'm thinking that perhaps that may be the issue.  I plan to talk to her but I was hoping that some of you could help me gauge what's reasonable from the employee and employer perspectives.  I appreciate the input!
