I have to wonder though. Were you originally contracted to only work till the end of November from the get go like you started your post out? Or were you starting the post that way because that is how things have ended up going? Just for clarification.

I am also wondering why you would sit them both down and question anything just because one mom got pregnant? It sounds like they always had the plan of daycare for their families after the holidays and that's why you were originally given a contract that only goes through November in the first place. So it seems that was thrown at you unexpectedly at all and you should have planned on having another job lined up a while ago pregnancy or not. So no severance wouldn't be something I would think fair in this situation but it doesn't make you bad for asking here. I wouldn't ask them though. It could leave a bad taste in their mouth since you have a contract and if they were ever interested in you for the future it could change their minds.
