So I'm part of a nanny share contracted to work till the end of November. I sat the two families down about 5 weeks ago asking them what their plans were moving forward as one mom is pregnant. They both said they had just started looking into daycares and I agreed to stay with them through the end of the year if needed. Two weeks later they called another meeting saying that the kiddos had both gotten into daycare and one would start October 1 and the other would start November 1. So that was 3 weeks notice for one kid and 7 weeks notice for the other kid. I was not suprised that this was happening but definitely shocked at how fast it happened since none of them made any mention about daycare until I brought up the question. They've said they will pay me through the end of October...but it's not like I will be off in October. I'll have only one child but I will be working the entire month. Considering I'll be let go before my contract ends, do I have the right to ask for severance? I usually find a job within 2 weeks of looking and have never had severance but this time, I don't even have any prospects three weeks in. I don't know if they will give me a Christmas bonus...they usually do but that is only equal to one week's pay. What say you dcum?
