I am the OP of the other post about getting a raise. I was just wondering if it was common at all for MomBosses to discuss how much they pay their nannies. I know as a nanny, when I meet other nannies, we do discuss + compare our salaries often.
I happen to know that some employers are dishonest about this.
Of course. And so are nannies. And so are tons of people in all professions and walks of life. It's human nature.
dishonest how? Bragging about inflated pay or deflated pay? who does which? Or does everyone brag about inflated pay?
Depends on the individual.
People don't want to sound like they've let someone take advantage of them (employers or employees). People also like to sound like they've got a great deal going. People who hate their jobs like to complain that they're underpaid, and might make it sound worse than it is. It also depends on the purpose of the conversation. Are people asking for info? Being competitive about who has the best deal or the best benefit package? Or is it a competition to see who has it worst?
