Our nanny started when DD was 5 months old, and she is amazing. We absolutely love her, and our DD adores her which is most important. When she started, we paid her $650 per week, which was a $25/week raise from her last job. After a year we gave her a $50 raise to $700, and then this past year another raise to $750.  This year, DD started part-time preschool 2 days a week for 2.5 hours per day. So while our nanny was working less overall, it wasn't much. And she took DD to school as well as picked her up.

Now her next year is coming up and I am not sure how much of a raise is warranted. Starting in September DD will now be in school 5 days a week for 3.25 hours per day. If we bump her up another $50 to $800 that just seems like ALOT for doing so much less work. The nanny does offer to help around the house, grocery shop, etc. but the reality is that we just don't have much for her to do and most of the time she ends up just sitting around.

We want to keep her happy and with us for the long haul, but is a $25 raise to $775 insulting at this point? DH and I only get 3% "raises" each year but have given our nanny 7-8% since it's what all of our friends have done and all of the nannies talk.
