because they assumed that I was working under the table but I assumed that I was working legally but would just file my own taxes.

When I told them that it was illegal if I did not file or if I did 1099 instead, they tried to convince me otherwise. That we could save lots of money
if I either did not file at all, or if I did 1099 it would be for MY own good...when I said that the legal way is the right way because I will benefit from
it they just said that they need to do what is best for them  :|

I am in the process of looking for another job but haven't had any luck so far. I can not afford to leave without having another job secured first.
The ONLY reason I am considering paying them half the costs is because they might fire me if I do not. Or they might give me bad future references,
which I absolutely can not afford because like I said, this is my first job here in this country and I REALLY need a (good) reference  :-( [/quote]
