You can find plenty of good nannies in DC for around $20, while it would be difficult for the nanny to find somebody who pays more than $23. Your nanny should be happy, she agreed to work for $20 and then got a $1 raise soon after starting because she was having financial problems. That's not usually considered a reason for a raise for a newly hired person. [/quote]
