MB here and I agree that's absurd. It's also extremely unprofessional and rude. Request direct deposit and it will be solved. If you have guaranteed hours then it's quite easy to set up a fully automated system that debits the money from the employer account and credits it to you. Even if you don't have guaranteed hours there are payroll services that will make it easier for you and your employer to manage this (and that will have built in prompts to your employer so you don't have to nap.) I think it's inexcusable to do this to an employee.
We solved that problem by getting a nanny payroll company - Homework Solutions - last year. I get a text to tell me my direct deposit went in every other week like clockwork. Only issue is making sure MB calls in overtime when it happens - that has been late by a paycheck twice because she forgot. So now I email the lady that does the payroll with my OT and copy MB - MB then just sends a short Yes that is right reply and problem solved. A few weeks ago MB mentioned to me she didn't know why she didn't do this two years ago, it is so simple and she doesn't miss getting forms done on time.
Not OP, but I've tried this. They don't want to pay the expense of using a payroll company, and obviously my paycheck isn't a high priority or they could have found plenty of other solutions. As a warning to other employers, I'm quitting due in part to this and other issues. Treat your nanny like this is her JOB, because it is. She shouldn't have to ask for the money you owe her.
