If schools are closed, I don't work. MB is pressuring me to come in tomorrow even though her work also follows school closings and she will be off. She is insisting that the roads are fine and I have to come in. I partly want to tell her that she should also come to work then. How do I handle this? She's insisting that the roads will be salted and fine..I don't care about the roads, I care about my contract.
What a petty babysitter. School system have to make decisions for huge areas. They may be closed because some rural areas are not plowed, if your roads are clear to and from work then you should go in. Wow. MBs seriously you need to only hire nannies with references, and make sure you CALL THOSE REFERENCES so you don't have to deal with this OP.
as a nanny, I actually agree with this. I think that stipulation in the contract was there for when the roads are bad...I didn't work Monday, but I worked today. the roads were definitely driveable but many schools are still out because areas are still unplowed and those that are might not be easy for a school bus (as opposed to the car). the way you phrase this issue (and I"m sure you'll come back and suddenly say that you are in an unplowed area and can't get to work  ), you just sound like a nanny trying to take an extra vacation day. whatever
Just like MB is a mother trying to not deal with her kids. If MB actually had to be at work, I would totally agree with this. If they meant if the roads were clear, they should have specified that. I'm always off anytime schools are closed.....holidays, etc.
I suspect you will be looking for a new job next year and they will be reevaluating this very expensive clause.
