OP, I always do salary, and I've been there. I would sit down with the parents and let them know that some things need to change. 1. You could offer to move in during the week (Sunday night to Friday afternoon). Because it's to help them, they can't drop your salary due to providing room and board. 2. You could suggest that hey get an afternoon/evening nanny, so that you put in your 8 hours, the part-time nanny does 4, then the parents are there while the kids sleep. 3. You could suggest that maybe they need to stagger their work schedules so that one parent leaves at 8.15am and the other returns at 4.45pm, that way you have enough time to talk to each if necessary, you only work 8 hours and they still have time to do all of their work. 4. You could suggest that you work 3-4 days during the week and that they hire a part-time nanny for the other 1-2 days per week. It might mean that you cover when that nanny isn't available, but it would give you some breathing room, and that part-time nanny might be available to cover your PTO/vacation. 5. If you are willing to work that much, you can easily ask for a high salary. No matter what you choose to say, you have to be willing to live with the result. That might mean that the family needs all those hours but prefers to pay just one nanny, so you would be looking for another position. I can't say what would be best for you, but I wish you luck!
