I had some people asking for $10/hour all the way to $60k/year. One obvious thing is that people do not self select. That is, under qualified people do not ask for less money than over qualified people. For example, the 60k person had no experience what so ever nannying. Over the course of many applications, you should find one that meets your expectations (and for us, it was pretty high--not the average run of the mill gruff nanny you so often see in the playground), and if you are on a budget, try to find one that charges less. Again, desired pay has nothing to do with how good they are. $16-18 is perfectly reasonable rate in the DC area and you can get average to excellent nanny at this rate. [/quote]
