I don't have an issue with female relatives talking with me before a single dad makes a decision, as most of them bring up other concerns that the dad hasn't considered.  Most of the time, they're also involved with the kids, and the more adults I can get to know before starting, the better.

I would NEVER consider a family if I don't get to talk to the parent(s).  Heck, I prefer to talk to both parents separately if they have split custody![/quote]
