I don't feel comfortable asking for a raise for the new baby.  I know that everyone does it but it just doesn't seem right to me.  I do the best that I can, 100% of the time when I am with my one charge and will be doing the best that I can, 100% of the time when I have two charges.  Why would I ask for a raise beyond my annual raise?

Annual raises, to me, are about cost-of-living increases as well as merit increases.  I deserve both.  I am a great nanny - educated and experienced - and have the best interest of my charge in my mind every minute of the day.  All that will happen when the new baby arrives is that two will now have my full attention and I will have two whose best interest will always be on my mind.  Obviously I will have to split my time and attention but I won't be working harder.

Where am I "off" in my thinking?
