You already don't spend time with your baby all day. You can't take the baby on vacation and handle him for a week? You'd really rather hire a stranger for a few hours each day while you relax at the beach and go out to dinner each night than spend time with your five month old? Sure, you can do that. I think it's shitty of you, but you can absolutely do that.
Uh, I'm not planning on lounging on the beach all day every day then going out to dinner all night every night. It would be probably a few hours total over the course of the trip. Dinner one night, a couple hours of quiet beach time one day. It is not that I can't "handle" DC, it would just be nice to be able to relax on a trip where I am sure to be chasing around and closely watching and entertaining a likely crawling baby. This is my first time doing this. You don't have to be a total a-hole about it.
Don't worry about the nasty poster OP. Try asking the hotel. You could search the Internet for nanny agencies in the area, they'll Have qualified people to help.
