OP, my DS looked like Winston Churchill when he was a newborn and his nanny started calling him "Old Bean", which became "Beanie". I love it and think it is great that she has a special name for him. If anyone else tries to call him that he says, "No, only Nanny". Loosen up, OP, it is a long haul. My parents agonized over my little brother's first name and by the time he was in high school everyone (including teachers) called him by a nickname (a shortened version of our last name).
