I think you're being extremely nitpicky about that extra half hour, especially considering that on Friday you worked an hour less than you were scheduled and on Monday you didn't work at all. This is coming from a fellow nanny, too.
+ 1 also from a fellow nanny - don't charge her for the extra 30 minutes under the circumstances of your second week of work.
Nanny here, and I disagree. OP has been burned like this before and the beginning of a position is when you establish expectations. OP needs to make it clear that guaranteed hours are guaranteed hours and that any work outside of those cost extra. That is the key. It doesn't matter that OP didn't work her full schedule, because she is guaranteed payment for those hours, and she also worked an additional .5 hour. Down the road she may choose to let something like this go, but now is not that time.
+1000 I am hard as nails at the beginning of a new contract which is the expectation-setting period of the relationship. It's never done any damage and protects and promotes my reputation as someone who takes their job seriously (equally evidenced by timeliness, professionalism, discretion, work ethic, etc.; you have to back it up with your performance). Later on, once my role is established and we are settled into a routine I am as flexible and easy going about schedule changes as you could ask, but that's something that's earned - not default.
