omg your job is to care for children, you had one extra older child who caused you no extra work for a short amount of time over lunch and you feel "taken advantage of"? How ridiculous. If you don't want to care for children for money then quit and go be a barista.
Typical and classic snarky DCUM Nanny Forum response here. I honestly don't know if this is one miserable person or more, but does someone really hate their life this much....??! Okay...Moving right along.... OP, you have every right to be a little peeved. I would have been as well. Since there was an extra child there, I would have wanted to know. While there is a benefit to having an extra older child around (he gets to entertain the other child for you, etc.), it still would have been common courtesy for the parents to let you know he would be there prior to you arriving. I would just kindly talk to the parents next time and let them know that while it isn't really a huge deal, you would like to know in advance if there will be another child present when you arrive and if so, in case of an emergency, could they please leave you with his parent's contact info should you need to send him home for any matter. After all, you are not technically babysitting him as well.
