OP, if you won't be flexible then don't expect any more work from this family. You don't seem like a very good sitter. Hopefully the family can move on and find someone more serious.
It's easier for a sitter to find a new family than for a family to find a new sitter. If you reverse what you said, it would be true. Nice try though.
Not true at all. I am a mom who could find 10 sitters clamoring for my time to interview. I could easily find a sitter thats good enough. There are WAY more sitters out there that need jobs than have jobs.
Warm bodies maybe. I turned down 10 (yes, 10) offers to babysit tonight. I also get multiple offers for my weekends. I hear mothers bitching constantly about how it's impossible to find a reliable, trustworthy sitter. There might be plenty of warm bodies you can pay to sit on your couch for 4 hours while your kids sleep. You will be hard-pressed to find someone with CPR certification, years of experience (who will actually know what to do if there is a true emergency With your children) and will leave your home in better condition than you found it in. Sitters like that are one in a million. If you claim otherwise, you are lying through your teeth. A good sitter doesn't have to put up with such nonsense.
I don't need CPR and years of experience to watch HBO on my couch while my kids sleep. I'm not so on edge about my kids choking in their sleep that I would need to hire someone as stuck up as you. And I highly doubt (or expect) any sitter to clean my home while the kids sleep. I can find a sitter anytime I need.
I'd love to see what Suzy Teenager does when someone tries to break in your home (happened to me). I'd love to see what she does when your kid chokes on food (happened to me). I'd love to see what she does when your child has a severe allergic reaction (happened to me). Go ahead and hire anyone to watch your kids. With me, my clients know exactly what they're getting. Stuck up or not, I can smell your stank attitude coming from a mile away.
