This is exactly my problem with the I saw your nanny posts and similar such attitudes when out and about. As if simply by virtue of being a nanny, every nosey adult is allowed to police me. If you see a child being abused or endangered, of course say something, though posting on DCUM probably isn't the most effective course of action. But when it comes to things you just don't like or would do differently? Mind your business. You cannot possibly surmise the entire situation from a few minutes observation, and you really have no authority to say anything. If you wouldn't call CPS or the police on a parent doing the same thing, it probably doesn't rise to the level of abuse/endangerment, and you're probably being a busybody.
I agree. Let this story be an example to this. I am appalled that someone actually got the police involved in something like this. I have also seen postings on this forum from people who have seen things that they deem negligent or abusive, which could have been misconstrued or confused. People are so quick to judge these days, especially when it comes to others who care for kids. To get the police involved all the time is a waste of resources. Police need to be available for actual crimes. Not for people who have nothing better to do than to call out so called abusive nannies.
