I've never been in a financial situation where I needed to be paid on a specific day to meet my bills. I have savings for that reason. Things like this have happened to me in the past usually involving a vacation and some of my bosses have post dated checks or I get them late when I return. I get that your not the one taking the vacation. They can't pay you if they don't have the money. I would not push too much on this issue for fear of rocking the boat and losing your job. You can't make them do something. I'm sure I'll get flamed for this response though.
this post is outrageous (and I am not a nanny, but a working mother of two kids). these people hired a nanny and need to pay her as scheduled. "they can't pay you if they do not have the money": are you kidding me? these people are going on vacation to a resort in Europe, and that cost $$$$ . they should pay the nanny first, and then go on vacation if they have money left, not the other way around. try spending your money on vacations and dining out and then tell your mortgage company that you will be paying your mortgage late because you do not have the money and you will see what happens. any resposible person pays first his/her financial obligations, and then goes on vacation. we are not talking a sudden loss of job, government shutdown and so on, just a vacation. OP should look for a new job ASAP, and she certainly needs to ask for her money at the time it is due, how her employer pays for her and the vacation is the employer' s problem.
